About this kit

The concept to produce an information kit to assist the Gold Coast’s community, sporting and recreation organisations arose during the early 1990’s. Due to the frequency and similarity of requests from clubs and associations for assistance/information on administration, finance, club development and legal liability etc, the difficulty that faced Council was to determine how to deliver this diverse information from a coordinated approach.

Addressing this identified need, Council’s Community Services Directorate, released in 1994, the first edition of the resource publication titled, Information Kits for Clubs & Associations. Due to the public response, a second edition was published in 1996. Written in user friendly terms, the publication provided a valuable guide for management committees while dealing with operational matters, many of which they continue to face today.

Since it’s release, many changes have occurred within the public domain (eg public liability) and information in the kit became outdated. As a result the kit was extensively reviewed. The current edition also benefits from a change of format. The previous book style is replaced by this online version and a CD version.
